Masonry Door Jamb Anchors

These anchors are often referred to as punch dimple frame anchors.

Hollow metal door frames in a masonry wall are installed with the masonry. 6 6 1 drill appropriate size hole per fastener. They are available for either 1 3 8 35 or 1 3 4 44 thick doors. Steel door frame installation in masonry construction 30.

The diagrams below show metal door frame anchors based on the type of framing used. Non standard available upon request at an additional charge. Again check the frame to be sure it is plumb level and square. Curries frames are manufactured for all wall conditions such as masonry steel stud wood stud and poured concrete. Frames are installed after a majority of the studs are in place but before the gypsum wall board has been installed. Make any necessary adjustments.

In new block walls the frame is fastened to the floor at the base anchors and either wire masonry anchors or t anchors are used. 6 3 1 frames may also be supplied with anchors welded in place. 6 5 where possible one jamb should be butted tightly to the wall. These are welded or screwed into the bottom of both jambs.

Continue laying the block and filling the jambs with mortar evenly up both. Base anchors come as standard in welded type hollow metal frames. Figure 5 steel stud 4. Wire masonry is the most common anchor used at new masonry walls since the anchor can be resized to match the jamb depth of the frame as needed.

Identical profile jambs and heads 1 face through 2 face in 1 8 increments are now available kd m g and mk profile. At the next course or approximately 72 from the floor lay in another anchor on the hinge and strike jambs. Wood stud straps welded on each side of the throat anchor to wood studs in the opening wall. The base anchors have holes pre drilled so you can fasten the frame to the floor.
