Marble dust is calcium carbonate dust used in painting. Molding pastes are meant to be used sculpturally for creating heavy textures and three dimensional surfaces. It is made from ph neutral basic calcium carbonate. It is in fact just an acrylic paint primer that has no gypsum or plaster in it at all.

It to can be used as a filler for paints or in the manufacture of soft pastels. They are very viscous and hard to manipulate without a good palette or putty knife. The dust is also used to make plasters such as marmorino and venetian plaster as a filler in paint or in frescoes to replace sand.
